Another month has past and we are not any further along in this journey. While this saddens me I know that good things come to those who wait and that when the time is right and all the planets are alined things will fall in to place and we will have a precious gift in our arms. A lot of questions are asked as to what is taking so long? There is a lot of paper work to gather. Here is a list of what we have to gather for our Dossier:
Application letter on our intent
Birth certificates
Marriage License
Employment letters (unemployment for me)
Tax returns
Physical exams (not just for us but Mom and Kerri Ann )
State police background checks
Fingerprinting by both FBI and State ( again not just for Andrew and I but also Mom and Kerri Ann too)
Autobiographies on each of us
Financial statement
Homestudy
Photograph collage
Proof of medical and insurance
Letters of personal reference
Copies of our passports
Several other forms for our agency
Approval from U.S. Department of Homeland Security to adopt internationally
After these documents are collected, many of them need to be Notarized, then taken to the County Clerk of Courts for Certification, then sent to Secretary of State for State certification, then to the Chinese Consulate for Authentication.
That is just the first step. When our Dossier is complete, it will be sent to China.
And then we WAIT..........this is where you really learn the meaning of patiences. As of right now referrals are taking anywhere from 12 to 14 months, this could get longer or it could get shorter. A lot goes into matching a family with a child and I will post more about that at another time. Until then......
As always Be good and Be Safe.
